  • The far far north.

Far North Queensland covers an area stretching from the city of Cairns to the Torres Strait at the northern most part of the State.

Significant industries include tourism, cattle grazing, sugar cane, tropical fruits, mining and erm ... tourism. The region's population is about 250,000 of which nearly half live in Cairns. About 12% of the region's population consists of indigenous people.

The climate is tropical - which means that it is warm in the winter and very hot & humid in the summer. During the summer months of the year, cyclones pose a significant threat to the region.
