Significant industries include tourism, cattle grazing, sugar cane, tropical fruits, mining and erm ... tourism. The region's population is about 250,000 of which nearly half live in Cairns. About 12% of the region's population consists of indigenous people. The climate is tropical - which means that it is warm in the winter and very hot & humid in the summer. During the summer months of the year, cyclones pose a significant threat to the region.
Tropical North Queensland is where life enhancing tropical moments await. The region combines the natural wonders of the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, Australia's Tropical Rainforests and accessible Outback. At least for a week or two - change your latitude to a destination that offers a wide range of unique experiences, cultural drawcards, magnificent tropical scenery and first-class facilities for your enjoyment.
